Local artist painting mural for Carhart Lumber in North Platte

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – Local artist Holly Carlini is currently painting a mural at the Carhart Lumber in North Platte.

Carlini, who is the Executive Director of The Prairie Arts Center, has been hard at work with this mural for four days. Some days she has come in and worked one to two hours, but Monday, she is expected to work on the mural for six to seven hours.

Carlini said this mural brings out the nature themes that North Platte and Greater Nebraska has to offer.

“So my kid called me with Carhart and asked me to create a design that embodied this area of Nebraska,” Carlini said. ”Of course when you look at our landscape that includes the rivers, some of the agriculture and wildlife around here. And of course I have some corn and wheat.”

Mike Lech, the manager of Carhart Lumber in North Platte, said this mural will bring a unique scape to the store, and that it will be good place to hang around.

“I just wanted something to bring some life or something totally different to the design center that we don’t have now,” Lech said. “Come to bring more colors. I guess I wanted something unique.”

The completion date of this mural is has yet to be finalized.
